Food Safety Conference 2013

What have we learnt?

Date: Thursday 17th October 2013
Location: National Motorcycle Museum

Food Manufacture's new one-day food safety conference - ‘What have we learnt?'- will use the recent horsemeat scandal as the basis for investigating a number of changes to how the industry regulates itself and the way it is policed in the future on matters related to food safety. The event aims to answer the questions: what changes are in store for manufacturers and how can they prepare themselves to meet the challenges ahead?

The conference, which takes place at the National Motorcycle Museum on Thursday October 17, will examine what lessons have been learnt by manufacturers and inspectors. It will discuss how these will influence future ingredient monitoring and traceability regimes. It will also ask what impact recent events have had on plans by regulators to move to a more ‘risk-based' inspection regime.

Subjects covered:

  • Latest research on consumer trust in the food sector
  • Regulatory changes in a cold economic climate
  • Authenticity testing: is it what is says on the label?
  • Third-party food safety audits: what changes can you expect?
  • Product recall: crisis management and limiting the damage
  • Where does social media fit in?
  • Creating a food safety culture in the workplace.
  • The changing face of allergen control
  • Effective traceability systems
