Mondelēz International has recalled batches of its Cadbury’s Dairy Milk Little Robins product after it was revealed that they contained almonds not mentioned on the label.

The product had been incorrectly packed with Cadbury Dairy Milk Little Robins Daim Chocolate, resulting in a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to nuts.

The incident has occurred as a result of a “packaging error”, Mondelēz said.

The company has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall. The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers.

The notice explained to customers why the product was being recalled and advised what to do if they had bought the product, chiefly urging them to return the items to the store involved.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has confirmed the recall and is working with the firm to address the issue.

Dairy Milk Little Robins

Some batches of Dairy Milk Little Robins have been found to contain almonds, which are not mentioned on the label,” a spokesman said.

The product has been incorrectly packed with Cadbury Dairy Milk Little Robins Daim Chocolate and could be a risk to anyone with a nut allergy. We have been liaising with Mondelēz UK and their relevant local authority, and are monitoring the situation.”

No other Cadbury product has been affected by the recall.

Meanwhile, the FSA recently announced several recalls of houmous lines, produced by Zorba Delicacies as a result of a salmonella scare.

The ongoing issue is thought to have been caused by an unnamed third-party ingredient provider.

As previously revealed by Food Manufacture earlier this month, the move has seen independent manufacturers seeking to secure new deals in the wake of the incident.
