pladis opens new Carlisle warehouse
The brand behind McVitie’s, GODIVA, Jacob’s and Carr’s has announced a £2m investment into its manufacturing site in Carlisle, UK.
A recent expansion to the pladis Carlisle site’s capacity, which saw the installation of four new production lines, has led to a need to construct a new narrow aisle warehouse with 1,6000 pallet spaces.
Overall, £12m has been invested into the factory over the last 18 months, with more than 150 jobs created.
Commenting on the announcement, UK managing director, David Murray, said the news marks a proud moment in the company’s 192-year history in the area of Carlisle.
“This investment is part of pladis’ continued business transformation journey as one of the leading global snacking companies. We are pleased to announce the new warehouse will support the creation of 50 new jobs, further bolstering our presence in the region,” he added.
This follows a recent appointment of a chief growth officer – a new role created in light of the organisation’s rapid growth, which pladis’ CEO said has led to a double digit revenue uptick.
Fulya Fraser, who was previously the company’s chief human resources officer, assumed the new position last month.
