Revolutionising packaging with a tray made from rice waste

Across the UK, consumers are estimated to use and throw away 100bn pieces of plastic every year. The recent ban on polystyrene takeaway containers, which are made of plastic, has been welcomed by many as one way to drive this number down. However, it has also left businesses needing to find an alternative.  

According to TIPA, its new upcycled rice waste trays are versatile enough to house a variety of products, including fruits, vegetables, baked goods, and hot foods for up to 48 hours. The packaging alternative comes in an array of sizes and shapes and can be used to replace paper and plastic bags as well as boxes.

The packaging is also GM free, bio-based and boasts an extended shelf life, along with being designed with local waste management systems in mind.

The new packaging is available to purchase in the UK, Europe, USA, and Australia.
